Saathi is a pre-emergence herbicide that is effective against annual and perennial weeds, grasses, sedges, and broadleaf weeds. UPL Saathi herbicide disrupts amino acid production in the weeds and kills them quickly through systemic action. UPL Saathi herbicide allows crops to efficiently absorb essential resources, such as water, and to improve their health by eliminating weeds.
Key Features and Benefits:
Broad-spectrum protection: UPL Saathi herbicide is effective against a broad spectrum of weeds, including annual and perennial weeds.
Selective nature: It is a selective herbicide that only affects target weeds, leaving the crops unharmed.
Long residual control: UPL Saathi herbicide has a long residual activity, meaning it lasts for an extended period and reduces overall product use.
Versatile Application: It can be applied as a pre-emergent and post-emergent application, making it flexible for farmers.
Saathi Herbicide Uses:
UPL Saathi herbicide controls a wide range of weeds in rice:
Sedges: Cyperus difformis, Cyperus iria, Fimbristylis miliacea, Scirpus juncoides
Broadleaf Weeds: Monochoria vaginalis, Sphenoclea zeylanica, Ammania baccifera, Eclipta alba, Ludwigia parviflora, Marsilea quadrifolia, Alternanthera
Annual Grasses (Partial Control): Young stages of Echinochloa species
Saathi Herbicide Dosage:
Apply UPL Saathi herbicide as a post-emergence herbicide spray at the recommended dose.
Crop | Target Weeds | Dose / Acre | Application Method | PHI |
Transplanted Paddy | Sedges, Broadleaf Weeds, Annual Grasses | 80 gm | Knapsack / Power Spray | 60 days |
Direct-Seeded Rice (DSR) | Sedges, Broadleaf Weeds | 80–100 gm | Knapsack Spray | 60 days |
Wet-Seeded Paddy | Sedges, Broadleaf Weeds | 80 gm | Knapsack Spray | 60 days |
Pump dose: Use 5 to 7 grams of UPL Saathi per 15-litre knapsack pump. About 4 pumps of 15 L are needed to cover one acre.
How to Use Saathi Herbicide:
Measure the required quantity of UPL Saathi herbicide as per the dose recommendation for your crop.
Make a slurry of UPL Saathi herbicide in a small amount of water in a separate container to ensure smooth mixing.
Pour the slurry into the spray tank already filled with about 70% of the required clean water.
Top up with the remaining water and stir thoroughly until the solution is uniform.
Drain the standing water from the paddy field one day before application, keeping the field saturated but not flooded.
Spray evenly over the entire field using a flat-fan or flood-jet nozzle, ensuring full coverage of weeds.
Re-flood the field 24 to 48 hours after application and maintain a thin water layer for at least 5 to 7 days.
Best Time to Apply:
The best time to apply UPL Saathi herbicide is 8 to 15 days after transplanting (DAT) or 15 to 20 days after sowing (DAS) in direct-seeded rice, when most weeds are at the 2 to 4-leaf stage. Spray UPL Saathi during the early morning or late evening hours when temperatures are mild, winds are calm, and there is no strong sunlight, for the best herbicidal effect and minimum drift.
Frequency of Application and Re-entry Period:
Frequency of Application: Only one application of UPL Saathi per crop cycle is generally enough to give season-long weed control in rice.
Re-Entry Period: Do not enter treated fields for at least 24 hours after application without proper protective clothing.
Compatibility: It is compatible with most commonly used insecticides and fungicides used in paddy. Avoid mixing it with strongly alkaline products and always perform a small jar test before any tank-mixing.
Safety, Precautions and Handling:
Wear hand gloves, a face mask, full-sleeve clothing, and protective eyewear while handling UPL Saathi.
Do not eat, drink, or smoke during the preparation and application.
Avoid direct skin, eye, or mouth contact with the product or its spray solution.
Wash hands, face, and exposed body parts thoroughly with soap and water after each application.
Always spray with the wind behind you and never against the wind direction.
Keep children, pets, livestock, and unprotected persons away from treated fields during and immediately after spraying.
In case of accidental contact or ingestion, rinse with plenty of water and consult a doctor with the product label.
