What are the uses of Sumitomo Liola herbicide?

Sumitomo Liola is used to effectively control broadleaf weeds and sedges in paddy crops. Applied as an early post-emergence herbicide in both transplanted and direct-seeded rice, it provides long-lasting weed control and supports better crop establishment and yield.

What is the Liola herbicide dose per acre?

The recommended Liola herbicide dose is approximately 60 to 80 grams per acre, mixed in 150–200 litres of water for a knapsack spray. Apply uniformly over the paddy field at the early post-emergence stage for the best weed control results.

What is the Liola herbicide dose per litre of water?

For a knapsack spray, the Liola herbicide dose works out to roughly 0.3 to 0.4 grams per litre of water. It is best to prepare a stock solution first and then dilute it uniformly to ensure even distribution across the paddy field.

Which crops can Liola Sumitomo be used on?

Liola Sumitomo is mainly recommended for paddy (rice) crops, including both transplanted and direct-seeded systems. Its selective nature makes it safe for paddy while effectively controlling problematic broadleaf weeds and sedges that compete with rice plants.

Which weeds does Liola herbicide control?

Liola herbicide controls a wide range of broadleaf weeds and sedges commonly found in paddy fields. It is particularly effective against troublesome sedges and broadleaf species that reduce rice yield by competing for water, nutrients, and sunlight.

How does Liola herbicide work?

Liola is a systemic sulfonylurea herbicide that inhibits the ALS (Acetolactate Synthase) enzyme in target weeds. It is absorbed through both roots and leaves and translocated throughout the plant, eventually stopping growth and leading to weed death.

Is Liola a pre-emergence or post-emergence herbicide?

Liola is an early post-emergence herbicide. It works best when sprayed on weeds in their early growth stages, typically a few days after transplanting or after weed emergence in direct-seeded rice, ensuring effective and selective weed control.

When should Liola Sumitomo be applied?

Liola Sumitomo should be applied as an early post-emergence spray, generally 3 to 15 days after transplanting paddy or after weed emergence in direct-seeded rice. Ensure proper water management in the field at the time of application for best activity.

Is Liola Sumitomo safe for paddy crops?

Yes, Liola Sumitomo is a selective herbicide and is safe for paddy when applied at the recommended dose and stage. It targets broadleaf weeds and sedges while keeping the rice crop unharmed, making it a trusted choice for paddy weed management.

What are the key benefits of Liola herbicide?

Key benefits of Liola include systemic selective action, effective control of broadleaf weeds and sedges, long-lasting performance, low use rate, crop safety on paddy, easy mixing as a WP formulation, and support for higher rice yield with cleaner fields.

Can Liola Sumitomo be tank-mixed with other herbicides?

Liola Sumitomo can be tank-mixed with certain compatible paddy herbicides for broader weed control, especially against grassy weeds. However, always conduct a small jar test before mixing and follow the product label for safe and effective combinations.

What is the mode of action of Sumitomo Liola herbicide?

Sumitomo Liola is a systemic sulfonylurea herbicide that works by inhibiting the acetolactate synthase (ALS) enzyme, which is essential for weed growth. It is absorbed through the roots and leaves and translocated throughout the plant, ultimately causing weed death.

What safety precautions should be taken while using Liola Sumitomo?

While using Liola Sumitomo, wear gloves, mask, goggles, and full-sleeve clothing during spraying. Avoid eating, drinking, or smoking during use, keep children and animals away from sprayed fields, and wash hands and skin thoroughly with soap after every application.
