How much vermicompost can the Real Trust HDPE Vermicompost Bed produce in one cycle?

A standard 12 x 4 x 2 ft vermi bed can hold up to 1500 kg of cow dung and produce around 600 kg of vermicompost in 70 days. The earthworm population also doubles from 20 kg to 40 kg during the same cycle, making the vermi bed profitable for both compost and worm sales.

Why is HDPE preferred over regular plastic for a vermicompost bed?

HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene) is far stronger, UV-stable, and more puncture-resistant than ordinary plastic sheeting. A regular plastic-lined pit lasts 6 to 12 months, while an HDPE vermicompost bed gives 10 to 12 years of trouble-free service with the same level of care.

How often should the worm bed be emptied and refilled?

The worm bed should be fully harvested every 60 to 90 days. Stop watering 2 to 3 days before harvest, so earthworms move down, remove the top compost layer, then refill the vermi bed with fresh cow dung and straw to start the next cycle.

Can the Real Trust HDPE Vermicompost Bed be used outdoors year-round?

Yes, the Real Trust HDPE Vermicompost Bed is built for outdoor use with UV-stabilised HDPE fabric. However, the bed should always be installed under tree shade, a thatched roof, or a green shade net to protect earthworms from direct sun and heavy rain.

What material is the HDPE vermicompost bed made from?

The HDPE vermicompost bed is made from 100% virgin HDPE fabric with a heavy-duty construction, providing strength and durability for long-term vermicomposting.

Does the vermicompost bed have ventilation windows?

Yes, the vermicompost bed includes six mesh ventilation windows that improve airflow and help maintain suitable conditions for earthworms during composting.

Can the HDPE vermicompost bed collect vermi wash?

Yes, the HDPE vermicompost bed features a built-in vermi wash outlet that allows nutrient-rich liquid to be collected separately during the composting process.

How should the vermicompost bed be installed?

Install the vermicompost bed on a flat, shaded surface and use bamboo poles or PVC pipes through the side pockets to support the bed properly.

Is the HDPE vermicompost bed UV resistant?

Yes, the HDPE vermicompost bed is UV stabilised, making it suitable for long-term outdoor use under shaded farming conditions.

What is the expected life of the HDPE vermicompost bed?

The HDPE vermicompost bed has an expected service life of approximately 10 to 12 years when used and maintained according to the recommended guidelines.

Product Description

The Real Trust HDPE Vermicompost Bed is a premium-quality vermi bed designed for farmers, gardeners, and small agripreneurs who want to produce their own nutrient-rich organic vermicompost at home or commercially. This bed is made from 100% virgin HDPE fabric at 450 GSM thickness. This HDPE vermicompost bed is UV-stabilised, ISO-certified, and built to last 10 to 12 years with proper care. The vermi bed comes with 14 side pockets for easy bamboo or PVC pipe installation, 6 air ventilation windows for proper earthworm aeration, and a vermi wash outlet that collects the nutrient-rich liquid by-product.

Key Features and Benefits:

Premium HDPE Construction: The Real Trust vermicompost bed is woven from 100% virgin HDPE fabric, giving high tensile strength, puncture resistance, and a service life of 10 to 12 years.
450 GSM Heavy-Duty Build: This HDPE vermicompost bed uses a 450 GSM weave, much stronger than standard 200-300 GSM beds, holding up better against earthworm activity and water pressure.
14 Installation Pockets: The HDPE vermicompost bed comes with 14 stitched pockets along the sides where bamboo or PVC pipes can be slotted in, holding the walls upright without separate brickwork.
6 Air Ventilation Windows: The vermicompost bed has 6 mesh windows on the sides for proper airflow, boosting earthworm reproduction and faster compost breakdown.
Vermi Wash Outlet: The HDPE vermicompost bed includes a built-in outlet that drains the nutrient-rich vermi wash liquid into a collection container for foliar spray use.
High Yield Per Cycle: A 12 x 4 x 2 ft vermicompost bed produces around 600 kg of vermicompost in 70 days, with 20 kg of earthworms multiplying to about 40 kg during the cycle.
ISO Certified and UV Stabilised: The HDPE vermicompost bed is ISO-certified and treated with UV-resistant additives that resist sun damage for years of open-air use.

How to Assemble:

Choose a flat, level site near a water source and shaded area, ideally under tree cover, a thatched roof, or a shade net, since direct sunlight overheats the vermi bed.
Clear the ground of stones, twigs, and sharp objects to avoid punctures, then spread a soft base layer of dry grass, gunny bags, or sand for cushioning.
Unfold the Real Trust HDPE Vermicompost Bed flat on the prepared ground, with the 14 side pockets facing the four sides.
Cut bamboo poles or PVC pipes to match the bed length (12 ft) and width (4 ft), and slide them through the side pockets to lift the walls straight up to the full 2-foot height.
Tie the corners with rope or wire to keep the walls upright, then check that the vermi bed is level on all four sides.
Place a small collection container under the vermi wash outlet on the side of the worm bed to catch the liquid drainage.
Spread a 15 cm base layer of dry leaves, chopped straw, or sugarcane bagasse across the floor of the vermi bed.
Add a 30 cm layer of 15-day-old cow dung over the bedding; fresh cow dung overheats and kills earthworms.
Sprinkle clean water across the layers to maintain 40 to 60% moisture without flooding the bed.
Add 1 to 2 kg of earthworms (Eisenia fetida or Eudrilus eugeniae) per square metre of bed surface, and cover the top with a gunny sack or dry straw layer.

Care and Maintenance:

Do not install the vermi bed on uneven or stony ground, as water and earthworm weight can stretch the fabric over sharp points and tear it.
Keep the vermi bed in shaded conditions at 20 to 30°C, since temperatures above 35°C kill earthworms and slow down the composting process.
Maintain 40 to 60% moisture in the worm bed by sprinkling water gently, but never flood the bed — earthworms drown in waterlogged soil.
Never add fresh cow dung directly to the vermi bed; use cow dung that has aged for at least 15 to 20 days, since fresh dung overheats and kills earthworms.
Cover the worm bed with a gunny sack or dry straw at all times to keep out ants, lizards, mice, and birds that prey on earthworms.
Stop watering 2 to 3 days before harvest, so earthworms move to the bottom of the vermi bed and are easy to separate from the finished compost.
