UPL Viraat is a powerful, dual-action insecticide that offers contact and stomach modes of action against various pests like spotted bollworm, jassids, and many others. This insecticide works by causing rapid knockdown through nerve paralysis and acting as a cholinesterase inhibitor to kill pests via ingestion or direct contact. The UPL Viraat insecticide offers a dual mode of protection with broad-spectrum coverage. This insecticide is also very compatible with commonly used agricultural inputs, making it versatile as well.
Key Features and Benefits of Viraat Insecticide:
Strong Protection: UPL Viraat insecticide offers contact and stomach modes of action for effective results.
Resistance Management: Viraat insecticide offers a dual mode of action with two unique actions, reducing the risk of pests developing resistance.
Quick Knockdown: The Cypermethrin component in UPL Viraat delivers rapid paralysis and knockdown on contact for rapid pest relief.
Safe to Use: This insecticide does not leave behind any residue on treated produce, making it safe for the final harvest and for consumers.
Broad Spectrum: UPL Viraat controls fruit borers, shoot borers, jassids, and many others, providing broad-spectrum protection.
Viraat Insecticide Uses — Target Pests and Crops:
Viraat insecticide uses cover the most damaging borers and sucking pests in two registered crops:
Brinjal: Fruit Borer (Leucinodes orbonalis), Shoot Borer
Cotton: American Bollworm (Helicoverpa armigera), Spotted Bollworm (Earias vittella), Jassids
Registered Crops: Brinjal and Cotton
UPL Viraat Dose — Recommended Dose:
The Viraat insecticide Dose Per Litre is 1.4–5 ml per litre of water — varying significantly by crop, with Brinjal requiring a much lower dose than Cotton.
Crop | Target Pest | Dose Per Acre | Per 15L Pump | Per Litre | PHI |
Brinjal | Fruit Borer, Shoot Borer | 140–160 ml | 10.5–12 ml | 1.4 ml | 7 days |
Cotton | American Bollworm, Spotted Bollworm, Jassids | 400–500 ml | 30–37.5 ml | 4–5 ml | 21 days |
How to Use UPL Viraat Insecticide:
Read the label instructions fully before measuring and mixing Viraat insecticide.
Measure the required dose as per the crop in the dose table above — 1.4 ml per litre for Brinjal and 4–5 ml per litre for Cotton.
Add the measured quantity to the sprayer tank half-filled with clean water and mix well before filling to the required volume.
Agitate the tank well to form a stable emulsion before starting to spray — Cypermethrin 3% + Quinalphos 20% EC forms an emulsion that requires good mixing.
Use a hollow-cone nozzle for thorough coverage — ensure the spray reaches the underside of leaves and developing fruit, where borers lay their eggs and nymphs feed.
Apply at the first sign of pest activity — the early larval stage is the most susceptible period for Viraat insecticide to deliver the most complete control.
Spray in the early morning or late afternoon — avoid midday heat and peak bee foraging hours, as UPL Viraat is toxic to bees.
Wash hands and all exposed skin with soap and water after every spray session.
Best Time to Apply:
Apply Viraat insecticide in the early morning or late afternoon. For Brinjal, begin spraying at the first sign of Shoot Borer leaf rolling or early fruit damage. For Cotton, apply at the first sign of bollworm egg-hatching during the squares and early boll stage.
Frequency of Application and Re-Entry Period:
Frequency of Application: Apply at the first sign of pest infestation. UPL Viraat provides rapid knockdown with residual protection — frequency depends on pest incidence or severity. Do not exceed 2–3 applications per season. Rotate with insecticides from different IRAC groups after consecutive applications.
Re-Entry Period: Do not enter treated fields for at least 24 hours after spraying without proper protective gear.
Tank-Mix Compatibility: Viraat insecticide is compatible with most chemicals. Always perform a jar test before mixing with unfamiliar inputs. Do not spray near water bodies — toxic to aquatic organisms.
Safety Precautions and Handling:
Wear gloves, goggles, and a face mask before handling or spraying UPL Viraat.
Do not eat, drink, or smoke during mixing or application.
Avoid direct skin and eye contact — wash immediately with plenty of clean water if contact occurs.
Toxic to bees and aquatic organisms — avoid spraying near beehives, water bodies, rivers, and fish ponds.
Keep Viraat insecticide away from children, animals, food, and water sources.
Wash hands properly after every application.
For agricultural use only. Dispose of empty containers per local waste guidelines.
