Tata Applaud insecticide is an insect growth regulator built for sucking pests. This insecticide carries buprofezin, a thiadiazine molecule that works by contact and ingestion rather than moving inside the plant. Instead of knocking down adults, it blocks chitin formation in young insects, so nymphs cannot complete their moult and simply die during the change. It also carries ovicidal action, meaning eggs laid by treated females often fail to hatch, and treated females lay fewer viable eggs. It spares most predators and parasitoids. Tata Applaud insecticide fits neatly into an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) programme and into rotation plans built to slow resistance.
Breaks Life Cycle: By stopping the moult in nymphal stages, Applaud insecticide cuts off the pest life cycle, stopping them from reproducing.
Early Action: The ovicidal effect of Tata Applaud insecticide ensures fewer eggs hatch, reducing field pressure significantly.
Long Residual: One well-timed round of Tata Applaud insecticide stops hoppers and whitefly for a prolonged time.
Safe to Use: Tata Applaud insecticide has no adverse effects on predatory insects and pollinators, making it safe to use.
Resistance Management: Target pests cannot develop resistance easily to the Applaud insecticide when rotated frequently for effective results.
Tata Applaud insecticide is registered against these pest groups:
Planthoppers: Brown planthopper, white-backed planthopper and green leafhopper in rice.
Whitefly and Jassids: Whitefly, aphids, jassids and thrips in cotton.
Mites: Yellow mite in chilli.
Hoppers in Orchards: Mango hopper during flowering and early fruit stages.
Mealybugs: Mealybug colonies in grapes.
The usual Applaud insecticide dosage per litre of water is 1 to 2 ml, which comes to roughly 15 to 30 ml in a 15-litre pump. With Tata Applaud insecticide, water volume matters as much as the dose, since this is a contact molecule that must physically reach the nymphs.
Crop | Target Pest | Dose per Acre | Dose per Litre | Spray Volume | PHI |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Rice | BPH, WBPH, green leafhopper | 320 ml | 1.5–2 ml | 160–200 litres | 20 days |
Cotton | Whitefly, aphid, jassid, thrips | 400 ml | 1.5–2 ml | 200–300 litres | 20 days |
Chilli | Yellow mite | 120–240 ml | 1–2 ml | 200–300 litres | 5 days |
Grapes | Mealybug | 400–600 ml | 1–2 ml | 200–400 litres | 7 days |
Mango | Mango hopper | As per canopy | 1–2 ml | 5–15 litres per tree | 20 days |
Shake the bottle well, as a suspension concentrate settles during storage.
Measure the dose for the tank size using the table above.
Stir the measured Tata Applaud insecticide into half a bucket of clean water first.
Pour this pre-mix into a part-filled spray tank, then top up with the balance water.
Keep the tank agitated so the mix stays uniform through the round.
In rice, aim the nozzle low, towards the base of the clumps where hoppers shelter.
In cotton, chilli and orchards, cover the underside of leaves, since nymphs sit there.
Rinse the sprayer thoroughly with clean water after the job.
Timing decides the result with Tata Applaud insecticide. Spray at the first sign of nymphs, rather than waiting for hopper burn or sticky honeydew to appear. Early morning or late evening is best, when wind is low and the canopy is not hot. Applaud insecticide acts on immature stages, so a late spray on a field full of adults will always disappoint.
Frequency: One to two sprays per season are usually enough. Where pressure stays high, repeat after 15 to 21 days.
Re-Entry: Stay out of the treated block for at least 24 hours, and keep livestock away until the residue has dried fully.
Tank-Mix: Tata Applaud insecticide is compatible with most routine sprays, but not with strongly alkaline partners such as Bordeaux mixture or lime sulphur. Jar-test any new combination.
Rotation: Alternate Tata Applaud insecticide with a product from another IRAC group so that hoppers and whitefly do not adapt to Group 16 chemistry.
Go through the label and leaflet properly before the container is opened.
Wear gloves, goggles, a mask and full-sleeved clothing while mixing and spraying.
Nothing goes in the mouth during the spray job — no food, no water, no tobacco.
Wash exposed skin with soap and change into clean clothes once the work is over.
Toxic to aquatic life, so keep Tata Applaud insecticide well away from ponds, canals and fish farms.
Triple-rinse empty containers, puncture them, and discard as per local waste rules.
Keep the Tata Applaud insecticide bottle sealed and upright in a cool, dry, shaded place.
Store away from sunlight, heat, food grain, seed, feed, and drinking water.
Keep it locked away from children, pets and cattle at all times.
Never transfer the contents into a food or drink container.
