Sumitomo Valida is a strong fungicide that is effective against sheath blight in Paddy. This fungicide offers systemic and contact modes of action and works by inhibiting the enzyme trehalase, which starves the fungus by blocking its ability to break down carbohydrates for energy, stopping hyphal growth, causing abnormal branching, and destroying the fungal filaments. The Valida fungicide offers prolonged protection while being safe to use and compatible with other agro-inputs.
Dual Action: Sumitomo Valida fungicide offers dual protection with systemic and contact modes of action.
Targeted Effects: The Valida fungicide is specifically effective against soil-borne diseases, ensuring healthy crop growth.
Prolonged Effects: Valida fungicide provides extended residual protection after each spray, reducing the need for frequent application.
Safe to Use: This fungicide has a strong safety profile for beneficial soil organisms, predators, and pollinators, ensuring environmental safety.
High Compatibility: The Valida fungicide mixes well with commonly used insecticides, providing better efficacy and results.
Valida Fungicide Uses are focused on the single most damaging fungal disease in Indian Paddy cultivation:
Target Disease: Sheath Blight (Rhizoctonia solani) — water-soaked to whitish lesions on the leaf sheath, progressing upward from the water level zone
Secondary Action: Also effective against other soil-borne fungal diseases in Paddy
Registered Crop: Paddy (Rice)
The Valida Fungicide Dose Per Litre is 2.7 ml per litre of water — equivalent to 40.5 ml per 15L pump and approximately 405 ml per acre in 150 litres of water.
Crop | Target Disease | Dose Per Litre | Per 15L Pump | Per Acre | PHI |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Paddy / Rice | Sheath Blight | 2.7 ml | 40.5 ml | 405 ml | As per label |
Read the product instructions fully before measuring and mixing Valida fungicide.
Measure 2.7 ml of Sumitomo Valida per litre of water required for the spray volume — 40.5 ml per 15-litre pump.
Mix the measured quantity into the half-filled sprayer tank, then fill with the remaining clean water and stir well.
Complete leaf coverage is the most important factor for best results with Valida fungicide — ensure the spray reaches the sheath zone at the base of the plant where Sheath Blight establishes first.
Apply the first spray immediately when the initial signs of Sheath Blight are visible on the lower leaf sheaths.
Apply the second spray based on how quickly the infection spreads — typically 10–14 days after the first.
Use only the recommended dose — never exceed the label rate.
Wear proper protective gear — gloves, goggles, and a face mask — throughout mixing and application.
Apply Sumitomo Valida in the early morning or late evening. For Sheath Blight in Paddy, the highest-risk period is during the active tillering and panicle initiation stages when high humidity and dense canopy conditions favour rapid disease spread from the water level upward.
Frequency of Application: Apply the first spray at the initial appearance of Sheath Blight symptoms. Repeat as and when necessary based on disease progression — most Paddy crops require 1–2 applications of Valida fungicide per season under normal disease pressure.
Re-Entry Period: Do not enter treated fields for at least 24 hours after spraying without proper protective gear.
Tank-Mix Compatibility: Sumitomo Valida is compatible with most commonly used insecticides. Always do a jar test before mixing with unfamiliar products. Do not apply near water bodies — Valida fungicide is toxic to fish and aquatic organisms.
Wear gloves, goggles, and a face mask before handling or spraying Sumitomo Valida.
Do not ingest anything while applying the product.
Avoid direct skin and eye contact — wash immediately with clean water if contact occurs.
Keep Valida fungicide away from water bodies, fish ponds, rivers, and irrigation channels — toxic to aquatic organisms.
