IPL Nematofree Plus is a bio-nematicide by IPL Biologicals, formulated with Verticillium Chlamydosporium 1.0% WP, which is a naturally occurring, soil-dwelling fungus that parasitises and destroys plant-parasitic nematodes at the egg and juvenile stage. Once applied to the soil, IPL Nematofree establishes itself in the root zone, produces enzymes like chitinases and proteases that break down nematode eggshells, and prevents eggs from hatching, gradually reducing nematode populations over time.
Egg and Larval Parasitism: Verticillium Chlamydosporium 1.0% WP attaches directly to nematode eggs and juveniles, penetrates their bodies, and feeds on their tissue.
Long-Term Soil Colonisation: Once applied, IPL Nematofree establishes a self-sustaining fungal colony in the rhizosphere, providing ongoing nematode suppression that improves with repeated application over the season.
Enzyme-Based Mode of Action: The fungus produces chitinases and proteases that dissolve the tough outer coating of nematode eggs, making IPL Nematofree Plus effective even in soils with high nematode pressure.
Improves Root Health: By reducing nematode-induced galling, root lesions, and stunting, Nematofree Plus allows the root system to develop normally, resulting in stronger plants, better nutrient uptake, and higher yields.
No Chemical Residues: Verticillium Chlamydosporium 1.0% WP leaves no toxic residues in the soil, crop, or water — making it fully safe for organic farming and produce intended for fresh markets or export.
Protects Beneficial Organisms: Unlike chemical nematicides, IPL Nematofree selectively targets plant-parasitic nematodes without harming earthworms, beneficial fungi, or other helpful soil microbes.
Compatible with Bio-inputs: Verticillium Chlamydosporium 1.0% WP can be combined with biofertilizers, organic manures, and other biological control agents for enhanced and broader crop protection.
This crop remedy is focused on soil-borne plant-parasitic nematodes:
Root-Knot Nematodes: Affects vegetables, fruit crops, and flowers
Cyst Nematodes: Affects cereals, potatoes, and pulses
Reniform Nematodes: Damage cotton, banana, and horticultural crops
Citrus Nematodes: Affects orange, lemon, and other citrus plantations
Root Lesion Nematodes: Causing lesions and decay in roots across a wide range of crops
Apply IPL Nematofree at or before transplanting for best results. Mix with organic manure or neem cake before soil application to support fungal establishment.
Application Method | Dose | Suitable For |
|---|---|---|
Soil Application (Broadcast / Incorporation) | 2–4 kg per acre | All field, vegetable, and fruit crops |
Drip Irrigation / Drenching | 2–3 gm per litre of water | Established crops, orchards |
Seed Treatment | 20 gm per kg of seeds | Cereals, pulses, oilseeds |
Nursery Bed Treatment | 50 gm per sq. metre | Vegetable and flower seedlings |
Mixed with Organic Manure | Mix with 25–50 kg FYM or neem cake per acre | Soil application for all crops |
Suitable Crops: Tomato, Brinjal, Okra, Carrot, Potato, Chilli, Banana, Papaya, Pomegranate, Grapes, Orange, Guava, Watermelon, Musk Melon, Sugarcane, Cotton, Pulses, Cereals, and other vegetable and horticultural crops.
Measure the required dose of Nematofree Plus as per the application method and crop type in the table above.
For soil application, mix IPL Nematofree thoroughly with 25–50 kg of well-decomposed FYM, neem cake, or castor cake per acre and broadcast evenly across the field.
Incorporate the mixture into the top 10–15 cm of soil by light tilling before sowing, transplanting, or at the time of land preparation.
For drip irrigation or drenching, dissolve 2–3 gm of Nematofree Plus per litre of water and apply directly to the root zone through the irrigation system.
For seed treatment, mix 20 gm of Verticillium Chlamydosporium 1.0% WP with a small amount of jaggery solution to form a slurry, coat the seeds uniformly, and dry in shade before sowing.
For nursery beds, mix 50 gm per sq. metre into the bed soil before transplanting seedlings.
Repeat application every 45–60 days if nematode pressure remains high.
Always apply IPL Nematofree when soil moisture is adequate — the fungus requires moisture to germinate and colonise the root zone effectively.
Apply Nematofree Plus at sowing, transplanting, or during early crop establishment for the strongest root zone colonisation and best nematode control results. Preventive application before infestation develops gives far better results than curative use.
Frequency of Application: Apply at planting and repeat every 45–60 days as needed. For crops with prolonged growing seasons, 2–3 applications per season are recommended for sustained nematode suppression.
Re-Entry Period: IPL Nematofree is a non-toxic biological product. No strict re-entry restriction applies. Allow drenched soil to settle before re-entering the field.
Tank-Mix Compatibility: Nematofree Plus is compatible with biofertilizers, organic manures, and other biological agents. Do not mix with chemical fungicides or bactericides, as these can kill the live fungal spores and reduce effectiveness. Always perform a compatibility check before mixing.
Wear gloves and a dust mask when measuring and mixing Nematofree Plus to avoid inhaling fine powder.
Do not mix with chemical pesticides, fungicides, or bactericides — this will kill the live organisms in Verticillium Chlamydosporium 1.0% WP.
Keep IPL Nematofree away from direct sunlight and heat during storage and handling.
Keep out of reach of children and farm animals.
Wash your hands thoroughly after handling the product.
Dispose of empty packaging per local agricultural waste guidelines.

The crop remedy colonises the root zone and attaches to nematode eggs. It produces chitinase and protease enzymes that break down the eggshell, then grows inside the egg, killing the developing larva.
Yes. Nematofree Plus is registered with the CIB and approved for use in certified organic farming systems. Verticillium Chlamydosporium 1.0% WP leaves no chemical residues in the soil or crop, making IPL Nematofree fully suitable for organic produce and sustainably managed farms.
No. Chemical fungicides and bactericides can destroy the live spores in Verticillium Chlamydosporium 1.0% WP, rendering the product ineffective. IPL Nematofree should always be applied separately from chemical inputs and is best combined with organic manures, biofertilizers, or other biological agents only.
Apply the Verticillium Chlamydosporium 1.0% WP before or at the time of sowing and transplanting, when the fungus has the best opportunity to colonise the root zone before nematodes establish. For standing crops, apply through drip irrigation or drenching at the first sign of nematode damage.
