Katyayani Proxur-20 is an insecticide in Emulsifiable concentrate formulation. It is used for controlling Flies, Cockroaches, Mosquitoes, Bedbugs and Ants. It has broad spectrum activity in agriculture, controlling Aphids, Beetles, Leaf Hopper and Caterpillars. These pests are commonly found on crops like vegetables, fruits, and ornamentals.
Mode of Action:
Propoxur, a carbamate insecticide, works by inhibiting acetylcholinesterase, the enzyme that breaks down acetylcholine at nerve synapses. Normally, acetylcholine transmits nerve impulses and is quickly broken down to end the signal. By blocking this enzyme, Propoxur causes acetylcholine to accumulate, leading to persistent nerve stimulation, muscle spasms, paralysis, and ultimately death of the insect.
