Adama Tamar is a selective, broad-spectrum, early post-emergence herbicide containing Ametryne 80% WDG, which is effective against a wide range of weed types like grassy and broadleaf weeds. This herbicide works by inhibiting the electron transport process in Photosystem II during photosynthesis, starving the target weeds of energy and carbon, leading to the weeds' death. The Adama Tamar herbicide offers long-lasting effects while providing both post-emergence knockdown and pre-emergence soil residual control for the best results.
Key Features and Benefits of Tamar Herbicide:
Effective Working: Adama Tamar offers foliar and soil activity, kills existing weeds, and forms a soil barrier that stops new weeds.
Broad-Spectrum: Tamar herbicide is effective against grassy weeds and broadleaf weed species, eliminating the need for multiple inputs.
Long Lasting: The soil residual action of Ametryne 80% WDG stays active for a long time, reducing the need for frequent application.
Easy to Use: Ametryne 80% WDG can be mixed easily with water and applied for simple application, making it beginner-friendly.
Tamar Herbicide Uses — Target Weeds and Crop:
Tamar herbicide uses cover both grassy and broadleaf weed species in Sugarcane:
Grassy Weeds: Digitaria sanguinalis (Crabgrass), Dactyloctenium aegyptium (Crowfoot Grass), Cynodon dactylon (Bermuda/Doob Grass)
Broadleaf Weeds: Trianthema monogyna (Horse Purslane), Ageratum conyzoides (Goat Weed), other common broadleaf weed species
Registered Crop: Sugarcane (primary); also noted for use in Potato, Tomato, Soybean, and Wheat in some references — follow label guidance for any crop beyond Sugarcane
Adama Tamar Dose — Recommended Dose:
The Tamar herbicide dose per litre is 6.6 gm per litre of water — equivalent to 100 gm per 15L pump and 1 kg per acre in 150 litres of water.
Crop | Target Weeds | Dose Per Acre | Per 15L Pump | Timing | PHI |
Sugarcane | Grasses and Broadleaf Weeds | 1 kg | 100 gm | 25 days after planting — weeds at 2–4 leaf stage | As per label |
How To Use Adama Tamar Herbicide:
Read the product label fully before preparing the spray — measure the dose accurately using a weighing scale.
Measure 6.6 gm of Tamar herbicide per litre of water — 1 kg per acre in 150 litres of water.
Add the WDG granules directly into a half-filled spray tank with the hydraulic agitation system running. Water-Dispersible Granules do not dissolve into solutions; they disperse completely into uniform, stable fluid suspensions.
Fill the tank to the required 150 litres per acre with clean water and mix well before starting to spray.
Use a flat fan nozzle for uniform broadcast coverage across the entire Sugarcane field surface.
Apply at 25 days after planting when weeds are in the 2–4 leaf stage — this timing gives the fastest and most complete weed kill while the crop is still small and most vulnerable to weed competition.
Do not spray during windy conditions or if rain is expected within 3–4 hours of application — this reduces coverage uniformity and wash-off risk.
Rinse all spray equipment thoroughly with clean water after use.
Best Time to Apply:
Apply Adama Tamar in the early morning or late evening on a calm, dry day. The 2–4-leaf weed stage at 25 days after Sugarcane planting is the optimum window — Tamar herbicide works fastest and most completely on young, actively growing weeds at this stage. Delaying beyond the 4-leaf weed stage reduces effectiveness significantly.
Frequency of Application and Re-Entry Period:
Frequency of Application: One well-timed early post-emergence application is generally sufficient for season-long weed control in Sugarcane — the soil residual activity of ametryne 80% WDG suppresses new weed flushes after the initial spray. Repeat only if a heavy late-season weed flush appears.
Re-Entry Period: Do not enter treated fields for at least 12 hours after application. Allow the spray to dry fully before re-entering the crop.
Tank-Mix Compatibility: Tamar herbicide is compatible with 2,4-D — a useful combination for broader weed spectrum coverage in a single spray. Always do a jar test before mixing with any other unfamiliar product.
Important Notes:
Apply only when weeds are actively growing — Adama Tamar is not effective on stressed, dry, or dormant weeds.
Do not allow spray drift onto neighbouring non-crop plants or sensitive adjacent crops.
Do not spray on waterlogged Sugarcane fields — poor soil conditions reduce herbicide activation.
Safety Precautions and Handling:
Wear gloves, goggles, and a face mask before handling or spraying ametryne 80% WDG.
Do not eat, drink, or smoke during mixing or application.
Avoid direct skin and eye contact — wash immediately with plenty of clean water if contact occurs.
Keep Adama Tamar away from children, pets, water bodies, and food sources.
Do not spray near fish ponds, rivers, or irrigation channels.
Wash hands and all exposed skin thoroughly with soap and water after every application.
Triple rinse empty containers, puncture, and dispose of per local waste guidelines.
Storage Instructions:
