What is UPL Lagaam herbicide used for?

upl lagaam and lagaam herbicide uses include selective early post-emergence control of broadleaf and grassy weeds in soybean and groundnut. upl lagaam herbicide is widely used to manage tough weeds like Commelina, Cyperus, Echinochloa, Euphorbia, Digera, and Trianthema in pulse and oilseed crops.

What is the Lagaam herbicide dose per litre of water?

The recommended lagaam herbicide dose per litre is approximately 2 to 3 ml of product per litre of water for foliar spray. For knapsack sprayers, this works out to about 30 to 45 ml per 15-litre pump, mixed well in clean water before spraying.

What is the UPL Lagaam dose per acre?

The standard upl lagaam herbicide dose per acre is around 400 ml in soybean and 400 to 600 ml in groundnut, mixed in 150 to 200 litres of water for foliar application. Use the higher rate in heavy weed pressure situations and on more difficult weed species.

How to use UPL Lagaam herbicide?

Measure the required dose of upl lagaam herbicide and add it to a spray tank half-filled with clean water, then mix well. Top up with water and spray uniformly using a flat-fan or flood-jet nozzle on actively growing weeds in soybean or groundnut for full coverage.

Which crops can UPL Lagaam be used on?

upl lagaam herbicide is primarily registered for soybean and groundnut in India. The same chemistry is also used in other pulse crops like green gram, black gram, and chickpea as per local recommendation and current label, with careful attention to crop and weed stage.

Which weeds does Lagaam herbicide control?

lagaam herbicide gives strong control of major broadleaf and grassy weeds in pulse and oilseed crops, including Commelina benghalensis, Cyperus difformis, Eragrostis pilosa, Trianthema portulacastrum, Echinochloa crusgalli, Echinochloa colonum, Euphorbia hirta, Croton sparsiflorus, and Digera arvensis.

How does UPL Lagaam herbicide work on weeds?

upl lagaam contains Imazethapyr, an imidazolinone-group ALS/AHAS inhibitor. It is absorbed through weed leaves and roots, blocks the synthesis of branched-chain amino acids like valine, leucine, and isoleucine, and stops protein and DNA synthesis, leading to weed death.

Is Lagaam a contact or systemic herbicide?

lagaam herbicide is a selective, systemic post-emergence herbicide with foliar and root uptake. After absorption, it is rapidly translocated throughout the weed plant via xylem and phloem, providing complete control of grasses, broadleaf weeds, and some sedges in soybean and groundnut.

When is the best time to spray UPL Lagaam?

The best time to spray upl lagaam herbicide is as an early post-emergence application, generally 15 to 20 days after sowing, when weeds are at the 2 to 4 leaf stage. Apply on moist soil during cool morning or evening hours for the best results.

How quickly does Lagaam show results on weeds?

lagaam herbicide is absorbed quickly through weed leaves and roots and starts showing visible stunting and yellowing within a few days of spraying. Complete weed death is usually seen within 10 to 14 days, depending on weed species, growth stage, and weather conditions.

Does UPL Lagaam offer residual weed control?

Yes, upl lagaam herbicide is known for strong residual action in soil after foliar application. It continues to suppress newly germinating weeds for several weeks, reducing the need for additional sprays and giving longer-lasting clean fields in soybean and groundnut.

Is Lagaam safe for the crop?

Yes, lagaam herbicide has good crop selectivity in soybean and groundnut when used at the recommended dose and stage. Avoid spraying during severe drought, waterlogging, or other stress conditions, and follow correct timing to ensure that the crop is not affected at the time of application.

Are there any precautions for the next crop after Lagaam?

upl lagaam herbicide has soil residual activity that may affect some sensitive next crops, especially short-duration vegetables and cereals planted soon after harvest. Follow a suitable crop rotation plan, allow sufficient time before sensitive crops, and avoid heavy overdosing to reduce carryover risk.

Can Lagaam be tank-mixed with other agro inputs?

upl lagaam is generally compatible with many commonly used insecticides, fungicides, and adjuvants in soybean and groundnut. Avoid mixing it with strongly alkaline products like Bordeaux mixture and always perform a small jar test before combining with any new product in the tank.

What safety precautions should be followed while using Lagaam?

Wear gloves, mask, goggles, and full protective clothing while handling upl lagaam herbicide. Avoid eating, drinking, or smoking during application, wash hands and exposed skin thoroughly after spraying, store the product safely away from children, pets, food, and water sources, and avoid drift to nearby crops and water bodies.
