Thiolt-70 is a powerful seed treatment insecticide that helps farmers protect their crops from early-season sucking pests right from germination. It contains Thiamethoxam 70% WS, which disrupts the pest's nicotinic acetylcholine receptors and paralyses its nervous system upon consumption. Thiolt-70 gives 30 to 45 days of protection against aphids, jassids, thrips, and whiteflies, and is widely used in cotton, paddy, tomato, okra, brinjal, groundnut, and many vegetable crops.
Strong Early Protection: Thiolt-70 shields the young seedling from sucking pests for 30 to 45 days, the most damage-prone stage of the crop.
Systemic Action: Thiamethoxam 70% WS enters the seed and moves through the entire seedling, so even pests on the underside of leaves are killed.
Broad-Spectrum Control: Thiolt-70 controls aphids, jassids, thrips, whiteflies, stem borer, leaf folder, gall midge, and plant hoppers across crops.
Low Dose, High Power: Thiamethoxam 70% WS contains 700 g of active ingredient per kg, so a small dose treats a large quantity of seed.
Reduces Foliar Sprays: One seed treatment with Thiolt-70 replaces 2 to 3 early-season foliar sprays, saving labour, time, and pesticide cost.
Cuts Virus Spread: Thiamethoxam 70% WS kills sap-sucking pests early, stopping the spread of viral diseases like leaf curl and yellow mosaic.
Easy Slurry Mixing: Thiamethoxam 70% WS dissolves quickly in water, making seed coating simple even on small farm setups.
Thiolt-70 is registered and recommended for seed treatment of the following crops:
Cotton: Aphids, Jassids, Thrips, Whiteflies, Leaf Hoppers
Paddy / Rice: Stem Borer, Gall Midge, Leaf Folder, White-Backed Plant Hopper, Brown Plant Hopper, Green Leaf Hopper, Thrips
Tomato: Aphids, Whiteflies, Thrips
Okra: Aphids, Jassids, Whiteflies
Brinjal: Aphids, Jassids, Thrips
Groundnut: Aphids, Jassids, Leaf Miner
Sunflower / Sorghum / Maize: Aphids, Stem Borer, Shoot Fly
Prepare Thiolt-70 as a slurry and coat the seeds evenly before sowing. Mix 10 to 20 ml of clean water with the required dose for each kg of seed:
Crop | Target Pest | Dose per kg of Seed | Slurry Water | When to Apply |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Cotton | Aphids, Jassids, Thrips, Whiteflies | 5 to 10 g | 10 ml | Before sowing |
Paddy (Nursery) | Stem Borer, Plant Hoppers | 3 g | 10 ml | Before nursery sowing |
Tomato | Aphids, Whiteflies, Thrips | 4 to 5 g | 10 ml | Before nursery sowing |
Okra | Aphids, Jassids, Whiteflies | 5 to 7 g | 10 ml | Before sowing |
Brinjal | Aphids, Jassids, Thrips | 4 to 5 g | 10 ml | Before nursery sowing |
Groundnut | Aphids, Leaf Miner | 5 g | 15 ml | Before sowing |
Sunflower / Sorghum / Maize | Aphids, Shoot Fly, Stem Borer | 3 to 5 g | 15 ml | Before sowing |
Note: Use only the recommended dose. Overdosing can delay seed germination and damage tender seedlings.
Measure the right quantity of Thiolt-70 powder based on the seed lot and the dose table above.
Take 10 to 20 ml of clean water per kg of seed in a plastic mixing drum or container.
Add the measured Thiamethoxam 70% WS powder to the water and stir until a smooth slurry forms.
Spread the seeds on a clean plastic sheet or pour them into a plastic drum.
Slowly pour the slurry over the seeds while continuously mixing for even coating.
Rotate or stir the seeds for about 1 to 2 minutes until every seed is uniformly coated.
Spread the treated seeds in shade for 30 to 60 minutes to air dry before sowing.
Sow the treated seeds the same day for the best germination and pest control.
Apply Thiamethoxam 70% WS just before sowing — ideally on the same day or one day before. For the paddy and vegetable nursery, treat the seeds before nursery sowing. The treated seeds should not be stored for more than 24 hours, as the slurry coating can affect germination over time.
Frequency of Application: One seed treatment of Thiolt-70 per crop is enough to give 30 to 45 days of early-stage protection. Foliar sprays may follow later in the season if pest pressure builds up.
Re-Entry Period: There is no field re-entry concern with seed treatment, since the application happens before sowing. Wash your hands and tools after handling treated seed.
Compatibility: Thiamethoxam 70% WS can be combined with seed-treatment fungicides like Carbendazim or Captan for joint pest and disease cover. Do not mix with strong alkaline products, and always run a small jar test first.
Do not eat, drink, or sow treated seeds for human or animal food — Thiolt-70 treated seed is for sowing only and is highly toxic if swallowed.
Use a separate mixing drum and stirrer for seed treatment; never use kitchen, drinking, or feed containers for slurry preparation.
Wear chemical-resistant gloves, a face mask, and goggles while measuring, mixing slurry, and coating seeds to avoid skin and lung contact.
Treated seeds should be coloured with a warning dye (usually pink or blue) so they are not mistaken for food grain.
Do not feed leftover treated seed to cattle, poultry, or birds. Bury extra treated seed deep in the soil or destroy as per local rules.
Avoid working on sloped or open ground where wind can blow Thiamethoxam 70% WS powder onto neighbouring fields or water bodies.
In case of accidental swallowing, do not force vomiting. Take the patient to the nearest hospital along with the product label.
Store Thiolt-70 in its original sealed pack in a cool, dry, locked room away from direct sunlight.
Keep the product completely separate from food, animal feed, untreated seed, and drinking water sources.
Always keep Thiamethoxam 70% WS out of reach of children, pets, livestock, and birds.

Note: Pre-Harvest Interval (PHI) is not applicable, since Thiamethoxam 70% WS is used only as a pre-sowing seed treatment.
Thiamethoxam 70% WS is a higher-strength water-soluble powder used as a seed-treatment slurry, while 30% FS is a ready-to-use flowable suspension also used for seed treatment. The 70% WS needs more careful mixing but uses a smaller quantity per kg of seed.
No. Thiolt-70 is approved only for seed treatment, not foliar spray. For foliar use against sucking pests, switch to Thiamethoxam 25% WG or Thiamethoxam 75% SG formulations, which are made specifically for spraying.
Thiolt-70 gives 30 to 45 days of protection after the seed germinates. This covers the most pest-prone early growth stage. After 45 days, monitor the crop and use foliar sprays only if sucking pest pressure builds up.
Yes, Thiamethoxam 70% WS combines well with common seed-treatment fungicides like Carbendazim, Thiram, or Captan. Mix all the products in the slurry water together, then coat the seeds. Always run a small jar test before treating the full batch.
Yes, Thiamethoxam 70% WS does not harm germination when used at the recommended dose. Overdosing or storing treated seeds for more than 24 hours can cause delayed or weak germination, so always sow the same day.
