Button mushrooms are commonly cultivated on a substrate made from a mixture of materials that provide the necessary nutrients and support for the growth of the mushrooms. The substrate can be prepared using the following materials:
Compost: A mixture of animal manure, straw, and other organic matter that has been composted to create a nutrient-rich material.
Wheat straw: A fibrous material that provides structure and support for the mushrooms to grow.
Gypsum: A mineral that helps to balance the pH of the substrate and provides additional nutrients for the mushrooms.
Water: The substrate must be moist but not waterlogged.
