The Fruit Fly Attractant Methyl Eugenol Liquid is a strong male lure used to trap oriental fruit flies (Bactrocera dorsalis) in mango, guava, sapota, papaya, citrus, and pomegranate orchards. Made from pure methyl eugenol, this liquid attracts male flies into traps from long distances. A few milliliters of oil on a cotton wick inside a simple trap can knock down the fly population for weeks. It reduces fruit drop, gummy oozing, and maggot damage without spraying the whole crop.
Strong Long-Range Pull: This Methyl Eugenol Liquid attracts male fruit flies from 30-50 meters in open orchard conditions.
Targets Oriental Fruit Fly: The lure works specifically on Bactrocera dorsalis, the main fly pest of mango, guava, sapota, papaya, and citrus crops.
Long Field Life: A single 5-10 ml charge of the Methyl Eugenol Liquid stays active for 30-40 days under normal Indian field weather.
Safe for Pollinators: The Fruit Fly Attractant Methyl Eugenol Liquid does not attract honey bees, butterflies, or ladybugs, keeping pollination undisturbed.

Set up a simple bottle trap, McPhail trap, or ready-made IPM fruit fly trap with a lure holder inside.
Pour 5-10 ml of the Fruit Fly Attractant Liquid onto a clean cotton ball or wooden lure block.
For lure-and-kill action, add 2-3 drops of an approved insecticide like dichlorvos onto the cotton along with the Methyl Eugenol Liquid.
Hang the cotton or lure block inside the trap.
Tie the trap on a tree branch at 4-5 feet height in the semi-shade, where fruit fly activity is high.
Install 6-10 traps per acre, spread evenly across the orchard.
Start setting traps from the fruit-setting stage and keep them running till the last harvest.
Check traps once a week and recharge the liquid every 30-40 days, or sooner if rain or strong sun dries out the wick.
Wear gloves and avoid skin contact while pouring the Methyl Eugenol Liquid onto wicks.
Keep the bottle tightly capped and stored away from direct sunlight.
Hang traps at least 4-5 feet high, out of reach of children, cattle, and pets.
Do not pour the liquid directly on fruits, leaves, or soil.
Store the bottle away from food grains, drinking water, and cattle feed.
Dispose of used cotton wicks, dead trapped flies, and empty bottles safely.
Methyl eugenol trap is a natural plant compound used as a powerful attractant for male oriental fruit flies. The Liquid is poured onto a cotton wick inside a trap to draw male flies in and kill them, breaking the breeding cycle and protecting mango, guava, sapota, and citrus crops from fruit fly damage.
For most fruit orchards, install 6 to 10 traps per acre using the Fruit Fly Attractant Methyl Eugenol Liquid. For heavy fly pressure on mango or guava, push it to 10-12 traps per acre. Spread the traps evenly with extras near boundaries, water sources, and last year's hot spots.
Start placing traps from the fruit-setting stage, when small marble-sized fruits first appear. Keep the traps running till the last harvest is over. Early installation catches the first wave of flies before they mate and lay eggs, giving much better control than late-stage trapping.
No. The Fruit Fly Attractant trap works only on oriental fruit flies (Bactrocera dorsalis) and a few related species. It does not attract melon fly (Bactrocera cucurbitae), which is the main pest of cucumber, bottle gourd, bitter gourd, and pumpkin. Melon fly needs a cue-lure attractant instead.
No. The methyl eugenol fruit fly trap is highly specific to male fruit flies of the Bactrocera group. Honey bees, butterflies, ladybirds, and other beneficial insects are not drawn to it. This is why the lure fits well in IPM and organic-leaning orchards where pollinator safety is important.
A 50 ml bottle of the Methyl Eugenol trap charges roughly 5 to 10 traps with 5-10 ml each. The bottle stays effective for about 2 years if kept sealed, cool, and away from sunlight. Each trap charge lasts 30-40 days in the field before needing a refill.
