• Traps Melon Fruit Fly (Bactrocera cucurbitae )which attacks manycropssuch as Gherkins, Melons and Bitter Gourd, Ridge Gourd, Sponge Gourd, Bottle Gourd, Snake Gourd etc. Reduces the intensity of pest incidence and crop damage, thereby improving yield/output quality.
• Flies enter the trap through the openings in the end caps in response to the pheromone plume that comes out of the lure hung inside the trap. Onceinside the trap, they remain held by the pheromoneattraction and by the light entering through the transparentcenter cage. When exhausted they fall and die.
• Trap is made of UV stabilized plastic polymer, of three easy-to-assemble interlocking sections,with small openings in the center of the yellow end caps forinsects to enter into a transparent cylindrical center cage. The end caps are screwed on to the center cage in which aprovision is made to press fit a lure holder basket, in whichthe dispenser / lure is kept.
• Dimensions & Color: 14 cm (H) x 10.5 cm (Dia), transparent middle cylinder, yellow end caps. Pheromone Lure is made of wood block / Porous PP block into which Methyl eugenol is loaded. Recommended trap density is 1 to 2 traps for home & kitchen garden, 40-50 traps per hectare for mass trapping, and 8-10 traps per hectare for monitoring. The traps last for multiple seasons in the field.
