What are the uses of Dost herbicide?

Dost herbicide uses include pre-emergence and early post-emergence control of annual grasses and broadleaf weeds in soybean, wheat, cotton, pigeon pea, groundnut, mustard, and paddy. It protects crops during their critical early growth stages from weed competition.

What is the Dost herbicide dose per litre of water?

The recommended Dost herbicide dose is approximately 6 to 7 ml per litre of water. For knapsack sprays, mix around 100 ml of UPL Dost herbicide in 15 litres of water and spray uniformly over moist soil for the best results.

What is the Dost herbicide dose per acre?

The recommended UPL Dost herbicide dose is 1000 to 1200 ml per acre as a blanket spray on the soil. Mix in 150–200 litres of water and spray uniformly just after sowing and before irrigation for effective weed control.

Which crops can UPL Dost be used in?

UPL Dost is recommended for soybean, wheat, cotton, pigeon pea (tur/arhar), groundnut, mustard, and paddy. It is widely accepted across various soil and climate conditions, making it suitable for both rainfed and irrigated cropping systems.

Which weeds does UPL Dost herbicide control?

UPL Dost herbicide controls weeds like Echinochloa spp., Digitaria sanguinalis, Digera arvensis, Portulaca oleracea, Amaranthus viridis, Euphorbia geniculata, Cleome viscosa, Anagallis arvensis, Phalaris minor, Chenopodium album, and Melilotus alba.

How does Dost herbicide work?

Dost herbicide works by inhibiting cell division and cell elongation in germinating weed seeds. After spraying, it forms a protective layer in the topsoil that stops root and shoot development of susceptible weeds before they emerge.

Is UPL Dost herbicide a pre-emergence or post-emergence herbicide?

UPL Dost herbicide is primarily a pre-emergence herbicide and is also used for early post-emergence applications. It works best when applied before weeds emerge, as it cannot effectively control fully grown or established weed plants in the field.

When should UPL Dost be applied?

UPL Dost should be applied just after sowing and before irrigation, ideally within 0–3 days of sowing. Apply on moist, well-prepared soil as a blanket spray to form a uniform protective layer in the topsoil for best results.

What are the key benefits of UPL Dost?

Key benefits of UPL Dost include broad-spectrum pre-emergence weed control, long-lasting residual activity, crop safety on labeled crops, suitability for various soil and climate conditions, and reduced early weed competition for better yield potential.

Can UPL Dost be mixed with other herbicides?

UPL Dost is recommended to be used as a single-chemical spray for the best pre-emergence performance. If a tank-mix is needed, conduct a small jar test first and follow the product label for safe and compatible combinations.

How should UPL Dost be applied in the field?

UPL Dost should be applied as a blanket spray on the soil surface using clean water and uniform spraying equipment. Walk in reverse direction during spraying to avoid stepping on the treated area and to maintain a continuous, even spray layer.

Is soil moisture important when using Dost herbicide?

Yes, soil moisture is critical for UPL Dost herbicide to perform effectively. Light moisture helps activate the herbicide and spread it uniformly in the topsoil. Extremely dry or cracked soil reduces its activity and overall weed control performance.

What safety precautions should be taken while using UPL Dost?

While using UPL Dost, wear gloves, mask, goggles, and full-sleeve clothing during spraying. Avoid eating, drinking, or smoking during use, keep children and animals away from sprayed fields, and wash hands thoroughly with soap after every application.
